Most of my Halloween food creations lean towards the cute side of spooky. But every once in a while, something a little more gruesome strikes my fancy. I think the bleeding intestine cinnamon rolls win the award in this category, but today’s treat was also a bit more Sweeney-ish. Malia’s favorite kind of pie is cherry, and I have a sweet cherry pie recipe that we all enjoy. A simple change of shape and some creative latticework turned our cherry flavored dessert into a tasty rib cage pie. Traditional sour cherries would have yielded a bloodier creation, but as always, I’m not willing to sacrifice flavor for form. My creations need to taste just as good as they look! And we really like the sweet cherry pie. So perhaps it could have looked a little more grisly, but it was still appropriately Halloweeny!
