Nathan had another madrigal rehearsal today. This time they were able to get into the new school. The choir room isn’t done and the pianos have not been delivered so they rehearsed with an electric piano in the little theater, but it was still in the school. Nathan is really excited about how it all looks. The commons is a big open area connecting the main entrance with the lunch room and providing a lot more space in which the kids can eat lunch. The lunchroom being too small was a big problem at our previous high school so that was one of his favorite things. He also likes the big risers and the skywalk built into the commons because he says they will get to sing in both those locations. There are murals and lots of windows as well. The halls are color coded to make finding things easier. There should be an open house sometime soon, and I’m anxious to see it all in person.
The school is not completely finished, but they are getting there. As previously mentioned, the choir room isn’t quite done and the auditorium is basically still a big gaping maw with nothing in it, but most of the vital parts of the school are complete. That’s a good thing because school starts in two and a half weeks.
As always, I’m so glad he is excited about the upcoming school year. I think we’re all good and ready to put last year behind us and to have him move on to better things!
