Nathan is one of those kids who gets super stir crazy if he doesn’t have something to do. He can only binge watch shows on Netflix for so long before he has to get up and do something else. Once his summer stage crew stint ended, he needed something to do so he decided to make a quilt. He learned the basics of sewing in his seventh grade CTE class and he actually enjoyed it. So he selected a simple pattern, dug through my scrap boxes and got to work. With some basic instructions from me and questions asked along the way, he completed the entire quilt on his own. He chose a pattern that made the quilt top on the bias and handled the extra stretchiness very well.
He quilted it freehand on the quilting machine and even snuck in a few words that describe him.
And then he took a very artful picture of the finished product. (He has become quite interested in photography as well.) The quilt looks great. He’s totally proud of himself, as well he should be.
And he didn’t even make a dent in my scrap stash so he’s welcome to dive in again whenever he wants.
