Yuletide Delights-Part III

Often, I like to create new fun foods, things I’ve never done before that are an experiment and a delight at the same time. But sometimes an old favorite is just the right thing. Because who doesn’t love snowman pancakes?

Never Too Old for a Snowman

The first snow of the season hit Logan yesterday. Last night Daniel and his dormmates gathered every bit of snow they could from the lawn in front of the dorm to create a gigantic snowman they dubbed Frank. It snowed again over night. The snow was so wet and heavy that it broke many trees which blocked roads and caused damage and difficulties in travel. As a result, the university cancelled all classes until noon today. Daniel and his cronies took advantage of the unexpected hiatus as well as the newly fallen snow and Frank was reincarnated as Big Blue, the USU mascot. 

Last year was like a trial run of college for Daniel. This year is what college should really be like and he is living it to the fullest.

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

In an attempt to lift spirits and help the kids feel like they are still connected while they are all doing school from home, this morning the principal from Malia’s elementary school sent out an opportunity to be a part of the school community. We awoke to snow and he invited all the kids to make a snowman, email him a picture, and all the pictures would be featured on the school website. Malia loved the idea and during her morning “recess,” she created a snowman in our front yard. She called him Bob. And she loved seeing Bob and herself in the snowman slide show. 😊

The First Snowman of the Season…

It is a bit late in coming due to the extreme lack of snow this winter, but Matthew was thrilled that he was finally able to make use of the snowman kit.

Winter Precipitation

It’s been snowing for two days.  Which means that Matthew has been hyper.  You see, somehow Matthew has confused snow with Christmas.  Every time it snows he runs around the house yelling, “It’s Christmas!”  And when it melts he gets all sad and proclaims, “Christmas is melting.”  During family home evening yesterday I asked why we celebrate Christmas and Matthew responded with something about  shoveling Christmas.  So two days of snow equals one hyped up preschooler.   

 He was uber excited to get home from preschool so that he could build Frosty since he was convinced that if he built Frosty then Frosty would come alive.  I tried to tell him that wasn’t going to happen, but he was sure that Frosty’s magic hat would appear so Frosty could be alive.  Luckily for me, he was not completely devastated when Frosty did not come alive.  I think he had so much fun building him that he kind of forgot about the coming to life part.  (He was having so much fun that he even let me take his picture!) 

                                                                             

However he was pretty upset when the snow began to melt later in the day and Frosty’s head dropped off.
